Community Engagement

You have a project that cannot go forward without the support of the community. Cooley Public Strategies can pull together the right campaign for a successful outcome. We have the tools to shape public approval, from the grassroots level to leading opinion-makers, build relationships that give you the support you need, advocate at every level for the issues that your organization is passionate about, and plan events that highlight your issues.

Case Studies

Our team activated over 100 businesses and organizations throughout the state to advocate for the protection of over 20,000 acres as wilderness in the Cherokee National Forest. We worked with elected officials to bring the issue to the forefront with the Tennessee congressional delegation by generating sign-on letters, conducting Hill visits, and generating print media endorsing the Tennessee Wilderness Act. We also received support from local chambers of commerce and members of Tennessee’s congressional delegation. As a result of our efforts, the Tennessee Wilderness Act was passed into law by the 2018 Farm Bill.

CPS led a statewide grassroots issue advocacy campaign in support of comprehensive immigration reform. Our team worked with business leaders and local communities to provide a voice for Tennessee's immigrant communities. We worked with chambers of commerce, local elected officials, and student organizations to promote federal change in immigration policy. CPS implemented a statewide media plan through TV, print, and online media. Throughout the course of the campaign, our team secured over 70 earned media hits in more than 30 unique outlets spanning across Tennessee's nine congressional districts.

CPS was tasked with leading a grassroots effort to advocate on behalf of chronically ill patients for better access to healthcare. In order to amplify the stories of these patients to the Tennessee congressional delegation, we conducted patient interviews with 30 patients in 16 clinics spanning across Tennessee’s three Grand Divisions and assisted patients with a letter-writing campaign to Tennessee lawmakers. Our team worked to coordinate a clinic visit with a member of the Tennessee congressional delegation to educate and bring patient stories directly to their lawmaker.
